§ 5-117. Building permits

(a) The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby declares its intent that all public buildings or facilities, public accommodations or facilities, public amusement and resorts, gas stations, shopping centers and office buildings as defined by California Government Code Sections 4450 et seq., California Health and Safety Code Sections 19952 through 19954, inclusive, and 19955 through 19959, inclusive, shall comply with all applicable handicap access requirements under California statutes and related regulations.

(b) All building permits issued for the construction, remodel, alteration, or expansion of the building facilities referenced in subsection (a) shall contain a condition affixed to the permit at the time it is issued to read as follows:

The work authorized by this permit shall comply with all applicable handicap access requirements under California statutes and related regulations.
