§ 2-153. Warrants and checks

(a) Except as otherwise provided by law, no warrant shall be drawn or evidence of indebtedness issued unless there is at the time sufficient money in the treasury legally applicable to the payment of the same.
(b) Upon allowing a demand or approving a register of audited demands, a warrant shall be drawn upon the city treasurer specifying the purpose for which the warrant is drawn and the fund from which payment is to be made, which warrant shall require the signatures of the director of finance.
